The female artists who shattered the art world's glass ceiling
According to statistics, women artists make up only 3 — 5% of major permanent collections in Europe and America.

Tschabalala Self sure is standing out as the contemporary artist to watch. As a matter of fact, it was just earlier this year that W Magazine dubbed her "The 26-Year-Old Artist Empowering the Lives of Black Women".
Using a combination of materials, Self constructs exaggerated depictions of the black female body. The women in her work are not objectified and are instead the dynamic focus of her pieces; they are protagonists with individual lives, lovers, and deep histories.
Located next door to the Victoria Miro gallery, The Parasol Unit Foundation for Contemporary Art is currently exhibiting a range of Self's work.
