Asma Khan's story is powerful and relevant. Living far from her native Calcutta, a blue-blooded Mughal aristocrat armed with foodie knowledge from across India, setting up supper clubs and sharing her culinary knowledge with friends, in the process keeping true to her origins. Such stories make her recipes both delicious and accessible, whilst celebrating culture and community.
It's a lot to find in one book, but then Khan herself is a force of nature: 'bold, funny, talented, philanthropic and unstoppable' as Grace Dent put it.
Sections include 'feasts for two', 'family feasts', 'feasts for friends' and 'celebratory feasts'. There are plenty of vegetarian recipes, sweet treats and drinks too. But just between us, it's worth buying just for the chai-spiced ginger tea!
