The Young Vic 2020 season is a bold, diverse and exciting combination of radically re-worked classics – from a house music operatic Greek Myth to a feminist Ibsen and new take on Hamlet.

A new production is refreshing perceptions of the indecisive prince Hamlet. Cush Jumbo makes her Young Vic debut, breaking the reign of white men to play the young Dane. She'll join the ranks of Maxine Peake and Michelle Terry in breaking gender convention.
Scottish writer Stef Smith re-works Ibsen to explore a woman's conflict between domestic duty and personal desire over three different time periods.
Opera, house music and Greek myth merge together in a futuristic world premiere. Orfeus: A House Opera combines music and performance in a new interpretation of Ovid's Orpheus and Eurydice.

Ethiopian-Irish actor Ruth Negga makes her Young Vic debut in Marina Carr's haunting 1996 play about family bonds. Known globally for her Oscar and BAFTA nominated portrayal of Mildred Loving in 2016 film Loving, Negga has also impressed on stage at the National Theatre, Old Vic and Gate Theatre, Dublin.
