With one brave woman making standing up for equal rights, against a backdrop of racial prejudice and political unrest, Rosa Parks' life story is replete with drama and heart-lifting heroism.
So it's no wonder the activist has inspired an eponymous stage show, complete with an original songbook.
As a pioneering figure in the civil rights movement of 1950s and 60s USA, Parks made her point boldly by refusing to abide by racial segregation rules on buses. But Parks was not a born rule-breaker and this new musical is set to tell the story of her transformations 'from quiet seamstress to the mother of the civil rights movement'.
Stuart Matthew Price and Victoria Gimby, the creatives and writers behind the new musical, are all relatively new to the musical theatre world. But as the project has been planned and reworked in Workshops over summer 2016, Rosa Parks the musical is generating interest from bigwig theatre producers here and overseas.
It is yet to be confirmed whether the Rosa the musical will premiere here on in New York. But we're crossing our fingers for a London premiere with a megastar leading lady.
