Coming to the St James Theatre for three performances only, The Great British Musicals in Concert celebrates the best of British show tunes and chorus numbers. The Friday and Saturday shows are hosted by presenter Nicholas Parsons, a household name thanks to his jaunty presence and quick wit on hit radio four comedy show Just A Minute. And Saturday's Matinee will be presented by theatrical heavyweight Simon Callow. The concert follows on from Musical Director (and former member of the Classical BRIT Award-winner choir Only Men Aloud) Ross Leadbeater’s sell-out show Ivor Novello – The Great British Musical.
Featuring works by Gilbert and Sullivan, Noel Coward, Lionel Bart and Andrew Lloyd Webber, the concert will also feature a tribute to Ivor Novello’s 1914 composition ‘Keep the Home Fires Burning’ to mark the First World War centenary.
Special West End guests are yet to be announced (although with Julie Atherton and Laura Pitt-Pulford performing at the venue in July we can make some guesses).
