This February, Hollywood megastar Denzel Washington is set to discuss Fences, his latest directorial effort starring himself and Viola Davis. Washington will join theatre director Paulette Randall at the National Theatre to discuss the film based on the Pulitzer Prize winning play of the same name. The plot centres around Troy Maxson, a working-class African American man who, in the 1950's, is struggling to provide for his family and trying to come to terms with his past.
Fences has been nominated for numerous awards this season, including four Academy Awards. Moreover, Davis received a Best Supporting Actress win for her role as Rose, Maxon's wife, at the Golden Globes this year. Washington and Davis also both starred in August Wilson's play six years prior, garnering them Tony Awards.
