The pertinent story revolves around an unexpected encounter that leads a woman to question her own mental wellbeing. Playing with the notion of strangeness and familiarity, C-o-n-t-a-c-t is a sensory exploration of inner thoughts, heard by others. Over 50 minutes, innovative sound technology and traditional live performance synchronise spectators with actors, bringing the narrative to life in new and unexpected ways.
Co-writers of the piece, Samuel Sené and Gabrielle Jourdain said: 'We were driven by the need to reconnect with our profession and with the audience. We wanted to offer an artistic encounter even in the current health context, therefore we have imagined this tailored theatrical experience. To be able to share this feeling again, the one we only feel with live performance. To reunite with Theatre.'
Devised in France after Covid-19 changed the way we create and experience performance, C-o-n-t-a-c-t is shaped around the practicality of keeping a safe distance: it takes place outside and requires you to bring you own headphones so they can spread out and experience the narrative with no contact. Each show is capped at 15 audience members to keep the experience intimate and ensure no crowding.
The London production of C-o-n-t-a-c-t take place in Tower Bridge, Greenwich and Clapham Common (with further locations due to be announced shortly). When you purchase a ticket you will be sent a link to download an app with the exact location and details about downloading the audio.
