Half Belgian, half Iranian, Batmanghelidjh was brought up in Tehran and educated at boarding school in England. Having, as she puts it, a very privileged upbringing, in no way detracts from the vital work she carries out in our inner cities changing the lives of countess children and young people, most of whom suffer from a lack of parental attachment, a problem which is not in any case confined to the under-privileged.
As founder and chief executive of Kids Company, a charity which provides practical, emotional and educational support to 13,000 vulnerable inner city children in the UK each year, Batmanghelidjh will be a wealth of information as she discusses her views on life and society’s treatment of young people facing challenging circumstances.
