Book Slam is an exhilarating event for any bibliophile. As a celebration of live storytelling, it provides a different kind of clubbing, for those who think prose and poetry are on a par with partying. London’s first and biggest literary nightclub puts on a monthly evening featuring great writers reading aloud from your favourite novels, accompanied by live music. Over the years, Book Slam has played host to over 300 authors, poets, musicians and comedians with highlights including Kate Nash, Adele, Nick Hornby and Irvine Welsh.
The latest instalment of Book Slam has a comic theme. Stand-up star and novelist, Mark Watson, will discuss and read from his new book Hotel Alpha, Saturday Night Live writer Simon Rich will regale will quick quips and spoken word powerhouse Sophia Thakur will share her potent poetry. Music's provided by fusion artists, Moss Project. Each act will take to the stage at the Clapham Grand, a refurbished Victorian music hall that echoes a bygone era of performance.
Book Slam knows how to put on great entertainment and their evenings always go down a storm, attracting all ages and audiences - so book fast before it sells out.
