Bruce Oldfield is one of Britain’s most celebrated fashion designers, most famous for his couture designs and bridalwear collections. He has dressed a range of celebrities from Sienna Miller to Charlotte Rampling, and, most famously, Diana, Princess of Wales.
Oldfield graduated from Central Saint Martin’s in 1973 to much critical acclaim, establishing his own fashion house in 1975 and creating a couture line for private clients three years later. He designed for Diana from 1980 to 1990 and most recently opened a bridal atelier in Beauchamp Place in 2009. Sophie, Countess of Wessex, wore an Oldfield design to the Royal Wedding in 2011.
As part of their series of Evening Talks in The Lydia & Manfred Gorvy Lecture Theatre, the V&A welcomes Oldfield to talk fashion, specifically his own career and approach to design. The beautiful walk through the museum’s galleries on route to the lecture theatre will suit this charming evening event perfectly.
