Internationally acclaimed playwright and author Yasmina Reza discusses her latest novel Happy are the Happy at London review bookshop.
As the winner of four Molière Awards, two Oliviers and two Tonys, Reza’s droll and sharp writing has enlivened page, stage and big screen. Her masterpiece play Art created global buzz and went on to become one of the most successful and popular modern shows. This popularity was matched by God of Carnage, which she then adapted into a hit film with Kate Winslet starring and Roman Polanski directing.
Reza's latest novel, due to be released this July, oozes her characteristic humour. Set in contemporary Paris, Happy are the Happy is an, unflinching portrait of the foibles family life, encapsulating a whole spectrum of reality, including, love, betrayal, petty frustrations and passive aggression. As well as reflecting upon her literary methods and giving readings from the novel, Reza will be joined by its translator Sarah Ardizzone . As an award-winning translator, Ardizzone will nuance the discussion with an insight into how literature can become global.
