With live performances cancelled this summer, here is a chance to get to know the company better, and to understand the thinking behind staging a new production of a classic so that it is both faithful and fresh.
Each Wednesday evening event, streamed at 6PM then available on demand, looks in depth at a different opera, with images from the great collections.
The first featured opera, on 6 May at 6PM, is Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro – The Marriage of Figaro. Director John Cox, artistic director Douglas Boyd (Garsington Opera’s artistic director) and Caroline McCaffrey Howarth, 18th Century Curator at the V&A, talk about the masterwork and its context.
Dr Imogen Tedbury, curatorial fellow at the National Gallery, and Johnny Langridge of Garsington Opera introduce each session, with future titles to be announced.
Le Nozze di Figaro is screened in full by OperaVision. Click here to view
