Being a man comes in many guises. But how must a modern male negotiate his role in society, as barometers for masculinity change, and become so varied?
In age where being transgender and gender fluid is not only accepted but also celebrated by the mainstream media, why are there still so many male suicides? These are the kinds of questions Being a Man festival will attempt to find answers to, and a range of key speakers are set to attend. Attendees include actor Sir Roger Moore, Kele (of Bloc Party fame), hip hop troupe The Last Poets and Professor Green.
Other talks include Pram Jam: Only Dads Allowed, Being a Man Big Sing, Being A Superman and Men in Sheds. While the talks and guests will celebrate rich and light-hearted aspects of masculinity, this festival's aim is to probe and question modern male identity via their 2016 them: what it means to be a hero.
