London's style: The best of Frieze Fashion Week
Frieze Art Fair has long become London's most glamourous event of the year, with its flurry of parties and openings attended by artists, designers, gallerists and collectors.
For the first time this year, some fashion brands took the opportunity to reschedule their shows during Frieze week -- the London Fashion Week schedule having been pushed back after the passing of the Queen.
Alexander McQueen, Roksanda and Raf Simons decided to align their shows in London with the annual art fair, acknowledging the importance of the art scene in fashion creativity. Seeing Roksanda's models wandering around the Serpentine Pavillon on a glorious Autumn day was a perfect delight.
'Fashion meets art' seems to be a match made in heaven: if you have the means and taste to spend money on major artworks, chances are you can afford to purchase luxury clothes.
Indeed the appetite for fashion was perceptible during Frieze London's opening day. The queues to get a chance to win a discount at the MatchesFashion booth were far longer than the ones to attend a live performance of Laure Prouvost.
