Patriotic Perfume: Scents inspired by London
To coincide with the opening of Somerset House's upcoming exhibition 'Perfume: A sensory journey through contemporary scent', we have compiled a list of fragrances that pay tribute to our great city.
While London's most prominent smells may lean more towards pollution, rubbish and dirt than rose petals and cedar, it is a place - as Tom Ford put it - filled with "noble elegance and unconventional spirit." Here are the scents which we believe to capture exactly that.
A steam-mist of fresh roses. The stir of floating petals... Penhaligons' Savoy Steam was released earlier this year. The scent is inspired by the Turkish baths situated just a stone's throw away from the original Penhaligon's barber shop on Jermyn Street in London 150 years ago.
