Founded in 1970 by Joan Burstein and her husband — Mrs B, as she's affectionately known — is responsible for bringing some of the most interesting and important designers to London, as well as assisting in the burgeoning careers of the likes of Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and Gareth Pugh.
The Shoreditch outpost is the newest kid on the Browns block, and continues the pioneering spirit with pop-ups and immersive installations encompassing fashion, food and pop culture. The entrance to LN-CC is somewhat hard to find, being unmarked, but a visit to this underground lifestyle storei is well worth having to put down Citymapper and ask a passer-by for directions.
Head inside and down the stairs and you'll find a truly different store experience, not least thanks to a 2001: A Space Odyssey-esque shop fit by set designer Gary Card.
Brands are on the intellectual side: Margiela, Raf, Rick, but there's also plenty of Gucci, Saint Laurent and Valentino should your budget so stretch. LN-CC started as appointment only, but is now open six days a week, and has a surprisingly welcoming feel. Apart from the clothes, there's a selection of rare books curated by Claire de Rouen and vinyl you won't find anywhere else.
