Separated for now from her Italian family, soprano Paoli is sharing the concert she gave in 2016 with star names including West End doyenne Elaine Paige, glamorous trio The Tenors, and tenor soloist Andrea Bocelli.
Entitled Music for Mercy, the programme of songs from the classical, opera and musical theatre repertoire a very special concert is given on Carly’s YouTube channel. Although the audience will be scattered throughout the world, viewers will be able to participate by commenting and interacting in real time while they watch the streaming.
The Tenors joined Carly Paoli for her concert in the Roman Forum
And it's not every day you hear live music at the Forum. Music for Mercy was staged with the support of UNESCO and permission from the Italian Ministry of Heritage, Culture and Tourism – something that had never happened before.
Highlights are the duets that Carly Paoli performed with her fellow artists. I Know Him So Well from Chess, with Elaine Paige, a new version of Via Da Qui with Giovanni Caccamo with English lyrics written by Carly Paoli, and the ultimate performance with Andrea Bocelli of the beloved Italian aria, I’ Te Vurria Vasà.
Two special songs sung by Carly Paoli, both of which topped the classical iTunes charts worldwide, open and close the concert – Ave Maria with music by Romano Musumarra and lyrics by Grant Black, and Time for Mercy also by Musumarra and Black, inspired by the writings of the Pope, which gives the concert its title.
If you feel life lacks a little glamour right now, this definitely the occasion for you.
