Even without the Royal Opera's customary sumptuous costumes, breathtaking sets and seamless production skills, good singing lives on in numbers by Mozart, Bizet, Verdi, Offenbach, Leonard Bernstein and others.
And there is especial interest in this programme, in which music director Sir Antonio Pappano is joined by rising stars from the Royal Opera House's Jette Parker scheme, which spots and develops young artists.
