'It's all about the funky art’, said one much delighted hotel-guest. We couldn't agree more.
Located within restored 18th-century townhouses, The Exhibitionist, South Kensington, offers up eight spaces - including bedroom corridors and suites - to contemporary artists to decorate on a twice-annual rotating basis.
Trash City by Dotmasters is the hotel's latest artist-decorated suite. The room's kingsize bed, glorious balcony and spacious bathroom sees luxury at it's most luxurious. If you're prepared to really splash the cash, however, the hotel's two Penthouse Suites are among the best designed hotel accommodation in the city.
But if you're only popping in for a cocktail, head to the Abstract Bar for Da Vinci's Negroni or take a pew in the open plan ground floor, which has plenty of art and design pieces to gawk at. The magnificent chandeliers, the life-sized bull, the pair of ballerina legs and furniture by interior designers Jimmie Martin and Squint are statement pieces worth looking out for.
For all its eclectic charm, it's a comfortable, although quite pricey, base from where you can explore South Ken's most famous museums and galleries.
