After just a short train ride out of London, you could be face to face with a mighty T-Rex, or quietly watch on as a brachiosaurus munches on some leaves. No, we haven't gone insane. ZSL Whipsnade Zoo has opened its doors to a whole host of animatronic dinosaurs this summer, an event they've entitled Zoorassic Park.
After a 65 million year absence, the jurassic creatures are back by popular demand, in an attempt to liven up this summer holiday. With fossil digging, live talks from dinosaur experts and daily 'how to train your dinosaur' shows, there's enough pre-historic fun for all the family.
Kids also get the chance to learn more about these fascinating creatures at the park's education trail, and find out about animal conservation, to know how to help other animals from also becoming extinct. Educational and fun.
If you're looking for a complete jurassic experience, feast on dino-inspired bites in the zoo's restaurant or at the food outlets - vegetarian options available for any herbivores, of course.
However pre-historic the new inhabitants may be, this experience is sure to be enjoyed by all twenty-first century visitors, big or small.
