The tea, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Kerr's treasured tale, comes as part of The Savoy's recently announced literary programme, a celebration of the hotel's long-standing ties with the London literary scene. For the first time in its 129-year history, The Savoy, a true London institution, will be opening its doors exclusively to kids for this storybook feast.
The menu playfully alludes to moments in the book: pink and blue Battenburg to represent Sophie's tights, tiger-striped scones with clotted cream and jam, and mummy's cookie crumbs — dark chocolate cookies dipped in chocolate. Parents, not to worry — though the tiger tea is kids-only, The Savoy's traditional teas will be running alongside, so you can sip on champagne as your little ones feast their way through peanut butter & jam bites, and cupcakes with cream-cheese frosting.
The Savoy’s special edition 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea at The Savoy' menu will be available
for children at the first two sittings of Afternoon Tea in the Thames Foyer; Monday to
Friday as of Monday 8 October 2018.
