From Thursday until Sunday, the Gallery is hosting a variety of events, including crochet workshops for adults, a night of outdoor music and food and Nordic painting workshops and cinema marathons.
Our top pick for creatives young and old is the free family Scandinavian weaving workshop, hosted on Saturday and Sunday from 11am - 4pm. Kids and their parents discover the traditional Scandinavian technique of producing beautiful wool patters by making their own designs, inspired by the Astrup exhibition.
We gave forgotten artist Nikolai Astrup's atmospheric exhibition five stars when we went to go and see it in February, remarking on the magic, legends and myths that came to life before us through the painting of this marvellous twentieth century artists.
If you haven't yet been, this is the weekend to go and explore the gallery with the family. Come away with a new appreciation for our norther neighbours and their cultural history and traditional weaving.
Suitable for families with children ages 4 and up, this is a drop-in workshop, free with a Gallery ticket.
