Expect to see two hours of morose clowns performing disjointed and spectacularly random acts, from rolling across the stage in a giant bubble to pulling sheets of white hair over the audience. This all seems extremely bizarre, but it's also the main appeal of the show.
Slava's Snowshow is sometimes funny, sometimes moving and very Christmassy. The show is hugely interactive, boasting powerful lighting and beautiful music. At different times, the audience is covered in falling snow and sheets of white material. They even find themselves batting away car-sized multicoloured balls that explode from behind the stage. The costumes are also exquisite: the clowns' dress is very reminiscent of eighteenth century Russian clothing.
It's little surprise that, after twenty years of touring, Slava's Snowshow has won an Olivier Award for Best Entertainment and was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Special Theatrical Event.
The comedy appeals to all ages, and the visuals are magical, certainly different to the colourful British panto's we all know and love. So if you're looking for something different to do this Christmas, this is the show for you.
