What better way to kick off the most festive month of the year than with a day of traditional Christmas activities with the family? For one day only, the V&A Museum of Childhood will be transformed into a 1940s Christmas household, with plenty of yuletide pastimes of yesteryear to entertain your little darlings.
Not to be confused with the V&A itself, the V&A Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green houses the Victoria and Albert Museum's collection of childhood-related artefacts, dating from the seventeenth century to the present day. It's well worth a visit for the stunning Victorian hall alone, and the nostalgia value of spotting beloved toys from your own childhood!
As well as the inevitable festive music, there will be seasonal storytelling and Christmas craft workshops, where kids can learn how to make paper decorations and other traditional trimmings. The day will end with a procession, where everyone will gather together round the tree for a sing-along as the Christmas lights are switched on. What could be more magical?
