Each week little art aficionados will discover a new technique or artistic movement and then have a chance to try it our for themselves. Pupils will be given a sketchbook, which they will fill with work from their creative journey and then take home to keep at the end of the term. They will also create larger scale drawings and painted canvases to showcase new skills and brighten up the walls.
Throughout the sessions they will experiment with a broad variety of media: charcoal sketching, pencil drawing, painting, collages and simple sewing. Big imaginations and nascent talents will be supported by hands-on tuition, with a ratio of one teacher to five children.
As well as practical skills, the course will teach children all about the movers and shakers of the art world and initiate youngsters into the rich world of art history. Every term the session will be shaped by a different movement or artist, from Andy Warhol’s pop art to William Morris’s prints.
The workshops are recommend for children aged four to six.
