Open House Families is back this June 2019 to do just that, with a free two-day architecture festival designed for children aged 0-13. Brought to you by the charity Open House London, the architecture-packed weekend features over 40 creative activities at locations around London, including the Gherkin, Gasholder Park, Here East and Canary Wharf.
Some highlights to look out for? Designing your own London Skyline-cum-paper crown with architects Jestico + Whiles at the Gherkin; turning plastic waste into recycled structures with Elliott Wood; mini crazy golf at Gasholder Park (with obstacles crafted by the kids); building a bird house at Canary Wharf; and creating patterns and skylines with architects Hawkins\Brown at Here East. You can also expect storytelling and messy play sessions for under-fives, city trails and other art workshops.
Now parents, remember: this is for the kids. Although if you pick up a tip or two on how to maximise your living space, kudos to you.
