Lily is back and she's got an agenda. With her personal brand of fearlessness she’s made it clear that her hiatus from music is over. She'll debut her forthcoming, archly named album Sheezus -a comment on Kanye West's Yeezus- on April 28 at Shepherd’s Bush Empire .
Her third studio album has already given us the relentlessly catchy Air Balloon and Hard Out Here, a catchy critique of the music industry's objectification of women –a far cry from her saccharine cover of Keane’s ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ for the John Lewis Christmas advert.
She’s working the synth-pop vibe she explored on her second album It’s Not Me, It’s You, and the bubblegum English vocals are in the classic and inimitable Lily style. Underneath that sugary voice she says that this one, though, is for the ‘bitches’.
Go and join the fun, dance like a drunk aunt at a family wedding. This comeback show is a one-off – don’t miss it.
