Hozier: Take Me To Church: A Sensation
We doubt there is anyone on this earth who is yet to hear Irish singer-songwriter Hozier's Take Me to Church. The song can be heard in taxis in Kolkata, in Canadian ski-lifts, on Siberian radio. Thanks to the power of viral web, this boy from County Wicklow was hurled into the stratosphere of fame before even releasing a debut album.
But, for once, a time when ubiquity and mediocrity so often seem to be two sides of the same coin – Hozier actually deserves the hype.
The Hozier Album
Take Me To Church is catchy in that radio-ready, stamp-your-feet, kinda-know-the-words sort of way, while the video is enjoyable dark and gives new bite to the lyrics (i'll tell you my sins / and you can sharpen your knife'). Other offerings on his eponymous debut album reveals a songwriter of some skill, with a solid blues grounding and a soulful voice.
Hozier London Shows next January
With two London Brixton Academy January concerts already sold out, an extra date has been added in for January 31, and you could do much worse than head along and check out this exciting Irish artist
