Get ready, 02 Arena: U2 are hitting the road next autumn for their 44-date, megalithic iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE tour.
Whatever your position on Ireland’s most divisive rockers, you can’t ignore them. Frontman Bono made headlines earlier in September by forcing the band's latest album Songs of Innocence (a peculiar reference to William Blake) onto unsuspecting iTunes users – whether they wanted it or not. This publicity stunt eclipsed the actual album itself, which wasn’t bad.
By far their most personal record, the glossy and inoffensive Songs of Innocence delighted fans. U2 have delivered proper stadium fodder: highly produced melodic rock, with lots of “woah-oh” chanting and big spacey guitar.
