Acclaimed Australian experimental jazz trio The Necks come to Village Underground this April.
The Sydney-based group, which features Chris Abrahams on keys, Tony Buck on drums and percussion, and Lloyd Swanton on bass, have won international fame since forming back in the ‘80s and continue to push the boundaries with unique, slow burning tracks that have been known to approach an hour in length.
Mesmeric in quality, based on repeated motifs, shifting textures and ambient soundscapes, their compositions are games of chance that can be light, airy, and open, or hard edged and industrial.
No two performances by the group are the same and if last year’s Cafe OTO residency is anything to go by, it won’t be long before tickets have all been snapped up and jealously guarded, so move fast.
