If you haven’t heard of them: pay attention. Sultry Alabama sisters Allison and Catherine Pierce are at the top of their game and, with new album Creation just around the corner, are about to embark upon their most extensive UK tour to date.
Having performed together since an early age the duo released their first studio album The Pierces in 2000. Since then they have slowly transitioned away from their country beginnings and now specialise in an edgier brand of psychedelic pop driven by hypnotic vocals.
Creation is The Pierces first new offering in over three years, but they haven’t missed a beat since the successful You & I . The first single from the album ‘Kings’ is a ‘girl power anthem’, celebrating the sisters’femininity as their voices weave through the strong percussion and dramatic drum solos. ‘Believe in Me’ is rather gentler but a memorable chorus accentuates the twosome’s strong voices and slick production.
With You & I having been their greatest commercial success so far, expect Creation to take The Pierces to new heights. Icy synths give their strong melodies and charismatic vocals an extra sheen of pop polish which we expect to deliver them the mainstream popularity that they have been on the cusp of for fourteen years.
