Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, Royal Albert Hall

The pianist, bandleader, television presenter and British musical institution Jools Holland appears with his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra for two nights at the Royal Albert Hall in November.

The 20-piece big band specialises in crowd-pleasing, spirited performances of classics from the golden years of jazz, rock and roll, and boogie-woogie. Singers Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall provide powerful and soulful vocals, but the cornerstone of the band is of course the inimitable verve of Holland’s piano playing.  

Since their first release in 1994 Jools Holland and his band have consistently produced lively and uplifting albums in collaboration with numerous major figures in the music industry, including guest turns by Paul Weller and Tom Jones.

Known for their energetic and jubilant live performances, the R&B Orchestra will this time feature special guest appearances by BRIT and Grammy award-winning soul singer Joss Stone, and former Soft Cell vocalist and songwriter Marc Almond.

Holland himself came to prominence as the keyboard player with British band Squeeze, before going on to forge a successful solo career. As well as making music with the R&B Orchestra he is a well-known television presenter, fronting his revered music programme Later… and the annual New Year show Hootenanny.

Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra is sure to bring an infectious party atmosphere to the Royal Albert Hall this Autumn.
