The concert is the love child of American drag performer and filmmaker Peaches Christ, and conductor, producer and curator Edwin Outwater, who are bringing the show to London following sell-out success in San Francisco. Here, they'll be supported by the BBC Concert Orchestra as they spruce up festive classics, swap stuffy sentiments for bawdy humour, and get the audience whooping for 'The 12 Gays of Christmas'.
Storming the stage to perform this riot-of-a-good-time are current screen favourites Pixie Polite and Cheddar Gorgeous. Joining them are queens of the drag circuit La Gateau Chocolat and Peaches Christ herself.
Peaches Christ said: 'Edwin and I began our Christmas Gaiety symphony show in S.F. by setting out to create an irreverent, unabashedly queer evening of entertainment where high and low brow entertainment coexist in a beautiful, hilarious holiday event celebrating our diverse and creative community. I cannot wait to present this show at the Royal Albert Hall where all are invited to attend and have fun with us... well, maybe not small kids, but anyone else.'
Edwin Outwater said: 'Peaches and I are so honoured to bring our Christmas Gaiety show from San Francisco to London at the invitation of the Royal Albert Hall. We’ve modelled the evening after classic Christmas variety programs hosted by Judy Garland, Andy Williams and others, with a strong emphasis on Gaiety!'
