Sweet Tooth tours are the brain child of Le Cordon Bleu trained pâtisserie chef Lynne Starrtjes. After crafting cakes for Peggy Porschen and macarons for Pierre Hermé Paris, Lynne was inspired to share her craft with fellow sugar-lovers with tasting tours around the capital's finest independent shops.

The traditional tour takes in Belgravia's pretty florals, perfectly frosted cupcakes and delicate hand-made chocolates, while the Soho tour tends to encompass the changing trends, from Portuguese custard tarts to Japanese crepe cake. There are also options to arrange private and bespoke tours if you have a very specific sugar craving.
Culture Whisper tried out the Soho tour — and honestly, we're still on a sugar high! Starting off in a hidden courtyard, we feasted on fresh Viennoiserie and got to know the rest of our group. Tours are kept small and it turns out an enthusiasm for dessert is a great thing to bond over. Lynne leads the tour with plenty of charm, enthusiasm and expertise spanning the history of different cakes to the science behind baking techniques.
The specifics of your sugar trail are best left as a surprise, but we particularly enjoyed peeking in on a new generation of pastry chefs at work in a training kitchen, learning why croissants are crescent-shaped and guessing the macaron flavours in a blind tasting. Oh a little cheese pitstop at Neal's Yard Dairy was the perfect way to balance out all the sweets.
Over five stops, spread out across approximately two hours, you learn lots and try more treats than you can feasibly handle (don't worry, you can also get doggy bags to take home). Even the sweetest tooth and sugar fiends will leave feeling satisfied.
