The rooftop's Viking reincarnation introduces a long boat bar, an under-canvas feasting hall where hunks of meats will be cooked over fire pits and Viking drinking horns. The new-look Wigwam has been imagined by festival producers Fables, the team behind Outlook and Secret Garden Party festivals. Getting into the theme: the rooftop's eponymous Skye is the shield maiden of the Viking longboat, who after months at war at sea is weary and travelling toward the sight and smell of freshly cooked meat and victorious celebrations on nearby land.
For winter 2016/2017, cocktails include Skye's hot buttered rum (a simple hot buttered rum toddy), Thor's Courage (Hot mead punch with honey, ginger, rosemary and green grass vodka) and Freyja's Nettle Love Elixir (Stinging nettle Martini with elderflower, lemon, agave and nettle-infused Hendricks gin).
Food focuses on warming meat dishes with Nordic infusions, like Hodhr's Hotpot (Pork belly hot pot with apples, potatoes, herbs and garlic), a sloe gin turkey leg and - thankfully - a lighter salmon dish (Salmon rosti with dill, wild garlic and thyme with sweet and sour cabbage and root veg mash).
