Whether the football is your game or not, the build up to this year's World Cup in Rio de Janeiro is kicking off with the opening of the Brazil Pop Up Diner.
In a series of Supper Club style events, guests will be given the chance to taste food from each of the 12 Brazilian cities that are hosting the football. Each evening, planned for Sundays (we assume to keep you cheering through the week), will feature three tasty courses, cocktails by Leblon Cachaca and regional music. Plus you also get a goody bag with recipes and places to buy traditional ingredients -- a bargain for £35. The hardest part will be choosing a city…
So, if you’re interested in meat, and more meat, it has to be 11 May’s trip to Curitiba and Porto Alegre. On the other hand, if stews and casseroles are more up your street, why not visit Belo Horizonte or Salvador in June.
But we might save ourselves for July’s finale, when Rio De Janiero takes centre stage with Brazil’s famous feijoada—a bean, beef and pork stew—and bar bites like cod fish cakes.
Aside from carnival and the upcoming World Cup and Olympics, Brazil is most famous for its cocktails. If you're already a fan of citrusy caipirinhas check out the cashew fruit version on the Natal themed night. It's particularly fitting given the city is home to the world’s largest cashew tree!
Having started out at central London’s Bedford & Strand, the organisers say they might be moving venue for the coming events, so be sure to check in on their website or Facebook page for up to date information on location.
