Street food stall turned pop-up, Wong’s Happiness Diner is not your average Chinese. When they were first on the road under the guise of Mei Mei's Street Cart, the WHD team slapped up the UK's very first Jian Bings (filled Chinese crepes). Now the offering has been extended to showcase more of their family recipes but the philosophy of great cooking from scratch has remained the same. Look forward to tasting unusual Chinese groceries, forgotten classic dishes and weekly specials featuring ingredients sourced daily from local markets and traditional cooking methods. If the food – think sticky wings, tender chilli ribs, big-ass noodle soups , and slow braised trotters, tails, and claws – doesn’t wow you, the location will. This second Wong’s pop-up is taking the reins of the Bethnal Green Working Men's Club kitchen, quite simply one of east London's institutions. There’s no set menu and no BYO policy, but there is a bar serving Tsing Tao beers and fabulous cocktails with an Asian twist: deadly.
