The Sun & 13 Cantons in Soho offers more than just a pit-stop pint. The creative pub management team have signed up a roster of kitchen residencies to give us boozers something extra, the latest of which comes from Asma Khan. Taking over from Pepe’s Kitchen, Darjeeling Express dishes out perfect Calcutta-centric curries as well as bar snacks and bites, and all at terrific value (nothing costs more than £8.50). Bengali prawn and fish curry, puri with aloo dam and Mughlai chicken chaap are all regulars on the menu but it changes weekly to showcase even more of Asma’s recipes from her book of the same name, ‘Darjeeling Express’. Our winner? The masasla fries with chilli dressing – you’ll never want a bog-standard chip again.
