Housed in a former cloakroom, what this diminutive space lacks in size it more than makes up for in attitude – this is one of the best London bars around.
The founders have run with a reggae theme and collaborated with reggae kings Trojan Records to ensure that the soundtrack to your meal is as authentic as the rum punch on tap. In fact, this particular brew is fed through tubes behind the wall of speakers, infusing the cocktail with bass. A first for London, Dub Jam is also the only joint in town to stock Carib beer – and the Red Stripe comes in the traditional glass bottles – head to Covent Garden to get your fix of the quirky bars London has on offer.
The menu is simple: burgers, jerk skewers and some traditional sides – think rice and peas and plantain fries - but the food has been tweaked for central London sensibilities. You won’t find mountains of meat here, and although it’s not exactly sophisticated fare, if you’re expecting jerk like mama used to make you might find better in Brixton. However, there’s plenty to keep you entertained, and enough sunshine vibes to transport you to Jamaica by way of the Piccadilly line. Irie!
