Rumours of a new flagship deli from foodie entrepreneur and founder of The Detox Kitchen, Lily Simpson, had been circulating for a while so we are really excited about the venue's final opening last week. The Detox Kitchen was first launched in 2013 as a daily home delivery service, taking the hassle out of getting nutrient rich foods into your diet. The first Detox Kitchen Deli opened on Kingly Street in 2014, and a year later their fantastic book, The Detox Kitchen Bible, was published (try their recipe for Beetroot Falafel).
All new dine-in menu
Just in time for your new year health kick, the new site spans two floors of nurturing delights. What stands this site apart from the existing deli on Kingly Street is the new eat-in sharing menu of small plates that is available throughout the day. The whole menu is free from wheat, dairy and refined sugar, while giving way to innovative, raw-food dishes, packed with quality ingredients. We are particularly excited about the miso aubergine, sesame seeds and coriander, and the griddled sweet potato with red onion, soya yoghurt and honey pecans. Oh and of course their renowned beetroot brownie – definitely one of your five-a-day! The more familiar deli set up is also present; with a salad and juice bar serving signature green juices and salads to take away.
Fitness meets Food
The downstairs houses a fully equipped fitness studio, allowing customers to balance a healthy diet and exercise with ultimate ease. Whether it is yoga or high intensity fitness training you’re after, classes will be led by some of the most respected fitness professionals in London.
Last week's opening marks the culmination of Lily Simpson’s desire to bring together food and lifestyle in a comfortable, welcoming environment. A living wall of herbs and fresh fruit and personalised art work throughout the site promise to create a strong connection between the food and its provenance. Even if you're not the greatest of raw-foodies, the sheer originality of many of the Detox Kitchen's
earthly flavours is worth the detour - whether it be for lunch or an adventurous afternoon snack.
