Excited about truffle season but not sure how to celebrate it? Stop your worrying: Margaux, the modern European restaurant situated in South West London (and sister to our new favourite Chelsea restaurant Bandol) is coming to the rescue by honouring Alba truffle season (a particularly delicate species of white truffle) with a unique tasting dinner. The menu, designed by Head Chef Xavier Castella Vilamajo, will be available from 10th – 14th November.
The restaurant will aim to educate guests on the subtleties of taste by matching each course with a particular wine from the Prunotto vineyards. The five-course menu kicks off with egg en cocotte with a white truffle shaving, which is certain to get the palate excited. Guests can later look forward to tajarin egg pasta, served with butter and white truffle and paired with a 2008 Barbaresco Bric Turot. Then you'll be invited to try a creamy polenta served with a 2008 Barolo Bussia. Finally, to finish of the menu comes selection of Piedmontese cheeses, poached pear with red wine and vanilla ice cream, and a 2014 Moscato d’Asti, to act as a final toast to the evening.
After all that, we expect you'll be truffled out until the season comes round again next year. Things don't get richer than this, but given Margaux' stellar reputation among foodies, we're sure they know what they're doing. Tickets to the supper club cost £115, and include five courses with paired wines. To book, call Margaux on 0207 373 5753.
