28th of March is officially 'something on a stick day' (whatever that means) and kebab legends En Brochette are honouring the 'tradition' early by serving up a specialist supper club in Shoreditch's biscuit building on the 27th. For one night only, ad agency Mother will transform into a kebabery, facilitating the skewered delights of London’s pop-up duo Ika Kutateladze and Paul John Human.
Their brainchild, En Brochette, was inspired by the pair’s visit to Giles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival in the South of France. Brochette (skewered meats and vegetables) was the cuisine on which they concluded and their current menu includes such mouth watering concoctions as: slow cooked pork with truffled apple sauce, barely cooked salmon provincial as well as vegetarian options of lemon rubbed artichoke and sweet potato and artichoke.
Other quirks include Bloody Mary prawn shots and wine soaked steak with ‘naughty poivre sauce’. With an ever changing specials board that include the brochette’s global counterparts souvlaki, yakitori, shish, satays and kebabs, En Brochette have for the past year been offering up a slice of global cuisine ‘on a very British stick’ at various residencies in London, including popular incubators the Star of King's Cross.
En Brochette currently residing at the Gunmaker's pub in Clerkenwell, but in Shoreditch they're curating something rather special.
The £35 tickets include canapés, a cocktail crafter by Soul Shakers and lots of skewer-based courses. Featuring many of En Brochette's signature dishes as well as 'something special from [their] repertoire of unusual meats' the menu is a great chance to sample the fare of this duo who've been making waves on the London foodie scene. There will also be drinks available for sale on the night, and music throughout the evening,
A perfect event for meat lovers and East Londoners looking to celebrate 'something on a stick' day in style. Whatever that means.
