Battersea breakfast / brunch
The newly-launched Brünch is coming to Battersea at the end of March, taking over the effortlessly cool Doodle Bar for a morning of Berlin Brunch, featuring German-inspired ingredients, cocktails direct from Berlin – including Club Mate and the traditional Berliner Weisse sour wheat beer – and authentic DJs bringing the sound of Europe's coolest city direct to a South London Sunday morning.
German Brunch food
All this is the brainchild of Noemi Dulischewski, 'proper Berliner' now living in London and passionate about spreading the good food and good times of her hometown, where long and lazy breakfasts that roll on into the afternoon are the bedrock of any good weekend. Expect fine cured meats, smoked Mackerel paté and the classic German 'eggs in a glass', as well as Brünch's signature granola with quark (a kind of cottage cheese).
Doodle Bar Battersea
If you've not been down to the Doodle Bar already, it's a place ready-made for Berlin's well-worn, rough-around-the-edges aesthetic. They've got chalkboard walls for doodling on, ping pong tables and plenty of covered outdoor space for sipping cocktails on a Spring morning. In short, its the sort of place where Brünch could easily carry on the whole day long.
Whilst this doesn't sound like a particularly relaxing Berlinesque morning, and may not be up there among the best places for brunch in Battersea, it's certainly one for South London's younger, edgier culture seekers.
