This evening organised by Iranian banking colleagues Anahita and Negar looks to be one of the most unique new supper clubs in London. The pair describe themselves as having a mutual passion for their home country’s cuisine (and for the art of entertaining).
Their menu will be, they promise, a visually stunning creation; for those who love the flavours of Persian food in London, look no further. The pair plan to treat their guests to a carefully crafted menu, commencing with cocktails made from sour cherry & chia seed or a mint & cucumber cooler. The large spread of starters will include kuku, a fava bean and dill quiche, but we're particularly intrigued by the kal kabab – burnt aubergine & pomegranate tapenade. Moving on to the mains, they're offering fesenjān, duck breast served with pomegranate & walnut sauce served with a saffron rice cake, with vegetarian options available on request.
The pair will be rounding off the meal with a pomegranate jelly, accompanied by authentic tea & walnut cookies from city of Lahijan. An aromatic and diverse menu that we imagine will be an opportunity to transport diners to the Caspian regions whilst getting the chance to mingle with fellow hungry Londoners seeking a taste of the Persian.
Golpar's January menu features a number of new dishes including a rosewater & apple cooler to accompany the starter of 'Doymaj' – a traditional Persian cheese, walnut & herb dip, that's followed by Ash-e-miveh – a hearty offering of sweet & sour soup. For the main course they are serving up a succulent sounding lamb, yellow split pea & dried lime stew served with jewelled saffron rice, and followed by their homemade, traditional saffron & pistachio ice cream. Ring in the New Year with this wholesome Persian feast.
Most Persian food is naturally gluten free. Golpar's next supperclub will be taking place on the 24th of January at Gitane, on Great Titchfield Street.
