Mr Musubi, fine purveyors of Japanese fast food in London take up residency at Off Broadway- London Fields' best East Village-style bar
Over the summer, Mr Musubi is running a pop-up izakaya-style (a type of Japanese drinking hole) restaurant out of Off Broadway cocktail bar. Mike Tsang and Tet Ogino , the brains behind Mr Musubi, first set up their food stall in order to bring ‘musubi’ (a popular Japanese street snack, formed from white rice balls wrapped with seaweed and filled with a savoury ingredient) to our shores. Fillings on offer are: shiozake salmon (three-day salt cured salmon, grilled and steamed in sake), braised beef and ginger , and hijiki (black Japanese seaweed) and mushroom . These can be paired with edamame beans or Kyoto-style sweet omelette and washed down with a Japanese-themed tipple, such as Yuzu (Japanese citrus fruit) mojito and Shochu (Japanese liquor) martini. Ice cream mochi pops (soft rice desserts filled with ice cream) in several different flavour varieties are also available. Mr Musubi can also be caught trading at Broadway market every Saturday.
Mr Musubi is open: Monday, Thursday and Friday from 7pm – 10pm,Saturday from 6pm – 10pm and Sunday from 1pm – 4pm.
