This weekend marks the start of City Pantry’s Street Food Festival, as ten alternating vendors will congregate outside the Tesco Superstore in Kensington
City Pantry opened in 2012 as an initiative to connect those wanting catering for various events of all shapes and sizes, whether it be conferences, dinner parties or weddings, with the best food available in London, such as street vendors, restaurants or pop-ups. This Street Food Festival will act as a showcase for their talented vendors.
Accompanying the stalls will be competitive live cook-offs between top chefs with running commentaries, alongside a Brazilian caiprinha bar. The cast of vendors will include Crabbie Shack, which offers crab from the coast of South Kent, served in the form of crab burgers, crab cakes or crab kiev. The boys from Great Balls of Fire Bros will also be in attendance with their fiery meatballs, topped with melted mozzarella in a fresh ciabatta, while Colonel Tom’s will provide a slice of southern America with gumbo dishes and cornbread featuring on the menu. For those after something a little more virtuous, Christabel's will be on hand to serve up her beautiful, simple dishes. Not only has she worked at the River Café, she’s also been in the Noma kitchen. Expect unusual flavours married with simplicity and quality ingredients, like roasted red pepper quinoa with kale and pine nuts might find beetroot, pea & pecorino bruschetta with edible nasterciums,
he Wild Game Co , which prides itself on the fact they can not only tell you where the meat was shot, but who shot it. The company won Young British Foodies Street Food Award 2012-13 and sees them listed as on of the London Evening Standard’s top five places to eat game in London.
