Summer is just round the corner and once again North London’s Roundhouse is shipping in the sand to create Camden’s very own seaside idyll.
No beach is complete without fish and chips, however, so the venue’s very own Made Bar and Kitchen is also opening a very fitting rooftop pop-up, Fishy Business.
Banish thoughts of limp battered cod and soggy chips - this is superior seafood. Think smoked fish platters, crab, creamy mackerel pâté and salmon roulade, beautifully light crab, heavenly plaice with fragrant lemon dressing. Even better: it’s all cooked right in front of you on a roaring grill. The summertime desserts are perfection, too: ice-creams, sorbets and Pimms jelly. What could be better with a glass of rosé?
The affair takes place in the shade (or shelter) of a blue-and-white awning, surrounded by nostalgic china plates and nautical paraphernalia.
You can book a table for either two courses at 12pm for £14.95 or three courses at 5.30pm for £19.95. That also gives you queue-jump access to the beach 15 minutes before your booking time, which is going to be invaluable when London starts hotting up this summer.
Tickets went on sale on 12 May, so you can dive right in, the restaurant is open for business between 26 July and 23 August.
