London's best park cafés
The edible pleasures of the London park
Rather grown-up and exclusive, the exquisitely named Tangerine Dream Cafe within the Chelsea Physic Garden is a hidden gem. There's a huge terrace overlooking the mesmerising botanical and edible gardens (delights include cashew and cocoa trees) and guests often take their plates to sit on benches among the roses. The salmon en croute is superb, as are lamb chops with salsa verde and the creative Ottolenghi-esque salads. Cakes are magnificent whether courgette cake, a seasonal rhubarb sponge, or irresistible brownies.
Note it is necessary to buy a £10 ticket to the gardens to enjoy dining here.
