London's best park cafés
The edible pleasures of the London park
Among my favourite park cafes, and actually one of my favourite restaurants, Pique-nique is unapologetically French with great vintage decor and the food is exceptional. Who would have thought it was once merely a timbered ticket office for booking tennis courts.
Present dishes include: heritage tomato salad with sherry vinegar; pate en croute; monkfish with bouillabaisse; and drool worthy steaks. The souffles are unforgettable and there's a good wine list highlighting plenty by the glass. And, when in Bermondsey for breakfast, try the epic roque monsieur, which sets one up for the whole day
