“By sticking out his tongue and curling it sideways to explore the hairy jungle around his mouth, he was always able to find a tasty morsel here and there to nibble on.”
For anyone who was afraid to eat spaghetti for years after reading about the wormy spaghetti Mrs Twit prepares for Mr Twit, maybe this isn’t for you. Or perhaps it’s a chance to work through some of that childhood trauma.
Who knows? Either way, expect a banquet of deliciously disgusting dishes (bird pie, of course), to be enjoyed with Mr Twit’s Odious Ale (made with yeast swabbed from Roald Dahl's writing chair) and Mrs Twit’s potent punch (beware of a few floating glass eyes), and to be entertained (or harassed) by your horrid hosts.
This adventure comes from the team behind Alice's Adventures Underground, in association with purveyors of extraordinary culinary experiences, Bombas & Parr (young creative duo Sam Bompas and Harry Parr).
Oliver Lansley, of Les Enfants Terribles, said: “We are delighted to be presenting the first adaptation specifically created for adults of one of Roald Dahl’s hugely adored children’s books. We never really lose our sense of play, our relish in the bizarre and revolting. Dinner at the Twits will give adults the opportunity to explore those boundaries between disgust and delight, to come up close and personal with the hideous hairy Twits and to be taken on a multisensory journey through Dahl’s beguilingly bizarre world.”
No chiddlers allowed. (14+, recommended for 16+. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.)
A Premium Ticket gets you an additional fizz cocktail prepared by Bombas & Parr themselves, a bar of Mr & Mrs Twit's choices chocolate, a hot drink after supper in Mr and Mrs Twit's Upside Down Cocktail Cavern and a programme filled with some of Mrs Twit's most distressing recipes.
